Town Youth Council
The Town Youth Council is an advisory board, comprised of High School students from each grade level led by the Recreation Department's Recreation Coordinator, Chelsea Deskin, cdeskin@fairfieldct.org. The council meets on a monthly basis during the school year to plan and implement programs and discuss issues pertaining to Fairfield youth. Council members serve all 4 years and also donates his or her time to help run various programs and special events such as the Town's Tree Lighting, a Holiday Breakfast, the Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Adaptive Rec Dances.
Each September a limited number of positions open up for students to apply and go through the interview process. Applications are accepted in August and September. Click here for a TYC Application. Deadline to submit is Thursday, October 5, 2023. Interview dates are undetermined at this time.
The Jacky Durrell Memorial Service Award will be granted to graduating high school seniors. The recipients must be Fairfield residents.
The student should be planning to attend a post secondary institution with a program of study of one year or longer.
Two scholarships in the amount of $1000 will be awarded to deserving individuals on the basis of:
• Community Service
• School Service
• Evidence of Leadership Ability
• Financial Need
